Shelter Pointe Memory Care Unit- Admission Information

Alzheimer's Care

Our memory impaired unit, known as Shelter Pointe, is a self-contained, secure unit that provides care and treatment for patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. This specialized unit is available in all Caring Place Healthcare Group facilities in Cincinnati and Dayton. The first visit to our facility, you will appreciate how much care has been given to creating a warm, home-like setting for our residents. Comfort and safety, as well as the peace of mind of their families, is our paramount concern at all times.

Admission to Shelter Pointe can be from home, hospital, assisted living or a rehab center.  We first meet with the family and complete an evaluation with their loved one to determine their needs.  Our hopes are that getting to know more about them can help make a smooth transition into our memory care unit.

Admission Process for Shelter Pointe:

  • An evaluation/assessment completed by our staff to determine the most appropriate care level and learn about the patient’s interests, hobbies, etc.
  • A history and physical with a medication list provided by your doctor within the last 30 days.
  • Review financial options such as long-term care insurance, private pay, or Medicaid.

Our team will speak with the patient and family to create a personalized plan of care, once they are admitted to Shelter Pointe.  Our staff is trained specifically to work with Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients.  They are there 24/7 to assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, and activities of daily living.

We will have our therapy department work with the patient to ensure they are at their highest functional level.  The insurance may cover some, if not all of this therapy session.  Our admission director will explain in more detail what expenses are covered.

Caring Place Healthcare Group facilities are dually certified which means Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.  We welcome your questions regarding the admission process into Shelter Pointe.  Please contact the Admissions Director at one of our facilities to set up a tour and receive more information.
